Apple TV - MC572LL/A (2010 model)

The sleek new Apple TV has been completely retuned for your entertainment. It?s 80 percent smaller than the previous generation ? even with a built-in power supply. Which makes it perfect for sitting neatly on a widescreen TV stand or squeezing into a crowded media cabinet. Not only does the new Apple TV have an amazingly small footprint, it?s also incredibly energy efficient. It stays cool without a fan, so it?s never noisy. And when it?s not filling your living room with drama, romance, and comedy, it uses less power than a night-light.

Apple TV - MC572LL/A (2010 model) This is an awesome buy at a very affordable price. Having the ability to airplay music and video to different parts of the house without wires is fantastic!

Con's:

Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!]

Apple TV - MC572LL/A (2010 model) Product seems pretty amazing at first until you realise that without netflix in SA you can't really use it. Even at 4Mbps it's too slow to stream a movie properly (even when set to default at SD rather than HD).

Pro's:

-- sleek design, everything you'd expect from an Apple Product.

Con's:

-- - Slow internet in SA makes it unusable.
-- - £5 to rent a movie, rather use DSTV box-office
-- - Can't display AVI or DIVX - must convert to M4P

Rating: [3 of 5 Stars!]

Apple TV - MC572LL/A (2010 model) The Apple TV in SA doesn't work as well as it does in the States with the full iTunes store. However, if you convert all your series and movies into the iTunes format, this makes an excellent streaming device. Using it to stream from my Macbook, iPhone or iPad is incredibly simple and works very well.

Pro's:

-- Easy to use and no stuttering in streaming over WiFi

Con's:

-- No full iTunes support in SA to rent and buy digital movies and series.

Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!]

Apple TV - MC572LL/A (2010 model) Apple does it Again! A beautiful slick black box that seamlessly streams all the content from my iTunes to my TV.

Con's:

Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!]

Apple TV - MC572LL/A (2010 model) The Apple TV was a gift for my husband (yes, I caught his hints), but once it was connected to the TV and Wi-Fi I realised I'd benefit from it too. Perfect for home movie experiences, armed with a bowl of popcorn.

Pro's:

-- Very simple to use and connect with your existing home technology. You can view videos & movies that are on your iPad via Apple TV on your home TV screen, including YouTube clips. Easily browse the iTunes store for new movies or series.

Con's:

-- If you don't have a high speed internet connection, you will probably get frustrated waiting for movies to download.

Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!]

Apple TV - MC572LL/A (2010 model) As it being an Apple product, you get what you expect, great quality product with good finishing and software that just works. It has no trouble reading your iTunes library.

What ever is in your iTunes library the Apple TV will put to your HDMI TV screen (Including a neat way of showing off your photo collection.

And using the Airsteam feature in iTunes or iPad you can show about anything from anywhere onto your Apple TV Device

Pro's:

-- It has an intiutive user interface, and great way of navigating your iTunes library(s) is have multiple iTunes library machines in your home network

Con's:

-- It only works off your iTunes library

Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!]

Apple TV - MC572LL/A (2010 model) Pro's:

Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!]

Apple TV - MC572LL/A (2010 model) Excellent device to connect iTunes and compatible devices to HDMI IN ports! Thus listen to music on Surround system, watch Hiqh Quality video on Flat screen, Show photo's etc. on the big screen. All this happens wirelessly via your home network. The Apple TV has it's own built in WiFi.

The Apple TV can also do You Tube, access iTunes direct one of the Gadgets I really recommend

Pro's:

-- Small, high quality and great with Apple products or PC with iTunes.

Con's:

-- You must be connected to the "Right iTunes Store". Netflix etc. not supported in SA.
--
-- However to connect iPad to TV wirelessly and view content does not need this and already made the purchase worth while.

Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!]

Apple TV - MC572LL/A (2010 model) Wonderful little gadget - especially if you're into Apple goodies! Watch on-demand content from the Apple iTunes store (you name it, they pretty much have it typically at $1.99 per show) and also see videos on Vimeo (free), YouTube (free) or Netflix (very cheap and unlimited VOD, but older shows and movies mostly).

Set up is VERY simple and quick. There are a few tricks to get the full Apple TV experience, like setting your iTunes Store manually to the US, setting your timezone to automatically update and then to get an alternate DNS provider (I use Unblock.us - Google it) so that content providers perceive your Apple TV to be in the US. Don't be put off by these three things - it's really VERY simple to configure.

Pro's:

-- With a US iTunes Account you can watch practically anything, anytime. Fancy watching the latest series before it reaches DStv? With Apple TV you can in HD! I have a 4Mb ADSL connection and prepaid ADSL account with Afrihost and it streams perfectly. Best of all, it costs less than my DStv subscription and I get to watch shows ad free!
--
-- Also stream (AirPlay) anything from a Mac or PC running iTunes, as well as from iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch. It will also download copies of your photos selected for the screensaver and store them on the device cache.
--
-- If you have an iPad 2, iPhone or iPod touch (all on the latest iOS) you can extend your device screen onto the Apple TV which makes for awesome multiplayer gaming.

Con's:

-- You have to get a US iTunes account and then buy iTunes vouchers from Exxxxxxxs or the like. There is also a monthly cost for the alternative DNS provider. I would imagine that you would need at least a 4Mb ADSL connection to have this service performing optimally, but suspect that it would work on a 1Mb line too provided you're a little patient on the buffering.
--
-- It doesn't have a harddrive and no USB to add one, so this device depends on other devices "streaming" data to it. I am getting a Synology 5-bay NAS which has iTunes server incorporated, so will shortly use that as my primary home sharing device! :)
