Amazon
Amazon a NASDAQ listed company with turnover topping 280 billion Rand in 2010, is a, Seattle, Washing based American company with offices globally. The business conducts its business online via its websites. They are globally accepted as being the global leader in online retail.

Founded in 1994 the company initially envisaged selling only books online, but quickly developed into a seller of all things including gadgets, electronics, computers, home goods, watches, toys, luxury items, gifts and even food. Essentially if it's for sale, it's for sale on Amazon Dot Com.

The name was chosen as the founder wanted a name starting with the letter A and it must have a Z. The logo, which looks like a smile below the word Amazon, also points A to Z, to show that they literally sell everything. What separates Amazon is that they not only sell goods, but have become manufacturers of products too. Their Kindle is the current leader in the online ereader field. They also do memory cards, hdmi cables and a variety of other essential items as part of the Amazon basics range.

Further, they offer web services such as cloud computing, and services to other retailers.

Sadly most items on their website do not ship to South Africa, but this is where Have2Have gets involved and can assist in having virtually any item in stock and sold by Amazon Dot com delivered in South Africa.

I am unable to review the Kindle 2 because I am not sure whether it would stand up to South Africa's Eskom's power supply. The nominal maximum voltage is 240 V. It might be dangerous to plug it in so I have not yet. I am waiting for my computer supplier to check on things.

Have2Have Update:
The Kindle 2 does have a universal power supply so it works on 110v to 220v power.
