TomTom Users Capture 5 Trillion Traffic Data Points
November 21st , 2011 - TomTom announced that users had captured 5 trillion travel data points which covers 140 billion kilometres and equates to driving every road covered by their global maps 3,000 times. This information is used in a varierty of their services to including calculation of smarter routing (IQ Routes) and improved traffic prediction/estimations.

TomTom's Traffic Manifesto
September 2010 - CEO Harold Goddijn released TomTom's Manifesto to reduce traffic congestion around the world. They believe that once 10% of road users are using TomTom's HD Traffic navigation system's there will be a 'collective effect,' which will result in making roads flow more efficiently and reducing journey times for all by up to 5% during peak hours.
The Four key focus points of the manifesto are:

(1) We will encourage and inspire people to play a role in reducing congestion.
(2) We will increase the availability of TomTom HD Traffic.
(3) We will lead the continuous improvement of traffic and route guidance technology.
